The latest ICC Men’s Test Rankings, post-annual update, paint a new picture at the top: India vaults into third, displacing England to fourth place. This realignment highlights the impact of the refreshed weighting system.

Under the new rules, games since May 2023 carry full value, with pre-that results halved in influence. The change has triggered a cascade effect below the top duo, propelling India upward.

Top-ranked Australia solidifies its lead at 131 points, up by three. World Test Champions South Africa remains second on 119 points.

Team India’s ascent to third comes with 104 rating points, edging out England’s 102. The English slide is attributed to expiring full-weightage wins from series against New Zealand and South Africa on home soil, plus their triumph in Pakistan.

The lower order sees New Zealand unmoved at fifth (101 points), Pakistan rising to sixth on reduced penalty from old defeats, and Sri Lanka falling to seventh. West Indies, Bangladesh, and Ireland round out the top 10 at eighth, ninth, and tenth respectively.

Ireland drops out after playing too few qualifying matches. In the ongoing World Test Championship 2025-27, however, India languishes at sixth with 48.15 PCT, scarred by home reverses to South Africa and the Australian tour debacle.

Australia commands the WTC table at 87.50 PCT, with New Zealand second on 77.78. As teams recalibrate strategies, India’s Test resurgence signals renewed ambition on the global stage.
