In a bid to strengthen their bowling resources, Sunrisers Hyderabad have signed RS Ambrish as a replacement for the injured Shivam Mavi in IPL 2026. The young all-rounder steps in for the remainder of the season, acquired at a base price of 30 lakh rupees.
Mavi, the right-arm medium pacer, has been ruled out due to a nagging groin injury in his upper thigh. SRH’s decision to bring in Ambrish underscores their strategy to maintain momentum with versatile talents.
Hailing from Chennai, Ambrish was instrumental in India’s Under-19 World Cup victory earlier this year. His 11-wicket haul made him the joint-top wicket-taker, complementing his lower-order batting prowess. This performance has fast-tracked him into the IPL spotlight.
The franchise has navigated a series of replacements this season. Gerald Coetzee from South Africa filled in for ankle-injured David Payne in April. Payne had earlier replaced leg-injury victim Jack Edwards. Madushanka came aboard after Brydon Carse’s net session mishap.
Sitting pretty in third place with six victories in nine outings, captain Pat Cummins’ SRH faces KKR next at home. Ambrish’s arrival could be the spark needed for a deep playoff run, blending youth with experience seamlessly.
