The landscape of T20 cricket is undergoing a seismic shift, thanks to the audacious young Indian batters dominating IPL 2026, according to Delhi Capitals’ KL Rahul.
Rahul, a seasoned IPL campaigner, is all admiration for the likes of 15-year-old sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi, Priyansh Arya, Prabhsimran Singh, Cooper Connolly, Sameer Rizvi, and Ayush Mhatre. Their ability to unleash sixes has turned heads and redefined aggressive batting.
Speaking on ‘GeoStar’, Rahul was awestruck: ‘These new-age cricketers are incredible. Suryavanshi’s double tons at 15 are unreal – beyond my wildest imagination. Mhatre’s contributions have powered CSK’s chases. India’s talent pipeline in T20 is exploding at an unbelievable rate.’
What sets them apart, Rahul noted, is their fearlessness. Undaunted by bowlers’ pedigrees – be it Bumrah’s yorkers or Cummins’ cutters – they treat every ball as an opportunity to go big. ‘No fear of the first over or death overs. Pure intent to dominate. This is the gold standard for T20 now,’ he declared.
Delving into history, Rahul highlighted IPL’s role in fostering this culture. ‘A half-decade back, India lagged in power-hitting compared to global powers. IPL flipped the script. Today’s youth idolize sixes from childhood. We learned to leave balls; they practice smashing them. That constant drill makes them unstoppable.’
On a personal note, Rahul shared insights from chats with emerging stars like Abhishek Sharma. ‘Their training regimen builds unshakeable belief. I’m weaving that into my approach,’ he said. As IPL 2026 unfolds, Rahul’s words underscore a generational handover where youth are scripting T20’s bold future.
