The sun set on the 6th Asian Beach Games in Sanya, Hainan, as the closing ceremony marked the end of intense competitions on April 30. China’s squad reigned supreme with an impressive 24 golds, 18 silvers, and 13 bronzes, securing first place in both gold medals and total count.
Fielding 171 competitors in 13 disciplines and 60 contests, the Chinese athletes surpassed all previous benchmarks for the tournament. This achievement highlights enhanced team depth, successes in fresh events, improved event balance, and exceptional youth performances boosting national beach sports dominance.
Deputy head Jiang Xin emphasized the delegation’s progress: results reflect growing strength, key wins in new competitions, balanced structures, and rising stars from younger ranks. China’s beach sports landscape has seen a remarkable uplift.
Standout moments featured peak performances in four events: women’s shot put, men’s 5km open water swim, mixed swim-run relay, and women’s 100m dragon boat. In speed climbing, four world records tumbled—men’s individual, men’s relay, and women’s relay—cementing China’s elite status.
