MEA Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal, speaking at an inter-ministerial briefing on Monday, detailed the momentum. ‘India has steadily increased engagement with Gulf nations per PM Modi’s directives,’ he noted. A key highlight was National Security Advisor Ajit Doval’s two-day visit to UAE on April 25-26.
In Abu Dhabi, Doval delivered PM Modi’s personal message to UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed, while both sides explored ways to bolster their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. Talks covered regional dynamics and mutual priorities, building on External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar’s earlier visit last month.
Jaishankar’s April 11-12 trip included meetings with UAE leadership, where he thanked them for safeguarding Indian expatriates amid ongoing strife. This back-to-back diplomacy reflects deepening trust.
On another front, India clarified an April 25 episode where Iran’s Coast Guard fired warning shots at Togo-flagged chemical tanker MT Siron near Oman’s waters. Several vessels were in the area, and Indian crew aboard were unharmed.
According to Ports, Shipping and Waterways Ministry’s Mandeep Singh Randhawa, the action was precautionary. All Indian mariners are accounted for safely, with no impact on Indian ships. MEA and missions are in touch with maritime stakeholders; the past day has seen no escalations. Officials assure the scenario is under control.
