Kedarnath’s administration demonstrated exemplary preparedness on April 27 during the ongoing Char Dham Yatra. A 20-year-old Nepali pilgrim, Lakshman Adhikari, suffered a severe health crisis en route to the holy shrine. After preliminary care at the local Primary Health Center, his worsening state prompted an immediate response.

Teams from NDRF and SDRF expertly ferried him to the helipad amid challenging terrain. He was then urgently airlifted to Rudraprayag District Hospital. The rescue underscored the robust synergy among district officials, medical staff, and rescue squads, all operating in high-alert mode.

DM Vishal Mishra, overseeing operations personally since the April 22 opening, reported unprecedented pilgrim turnout: nearly 160,000 darshans completed. ‘The fervor is palpable nationwide. We’re monitoring every aspect, from crowd flow to emergency services, with helipad ops prioritized for efficiency,’ he affirmed.

From Haridwar, DM Mayur Dikshit highlighted registration surges—over 25,000 offline since mid-April, complemented by digital portals. Cumulative figures from the state center reveal 238,590 prayers offered at Kedarnath, Badrinath, Yamunotri, and Gangotri by 7 PM Saturday, with 55,998 arrivals that day signaling robust yatra momentum.

This incident reaffirms the administration’s commitment to pilgrim safety, blending devotion with modern rescue capabilities for a flawless yatra season.
