In a strategic huddle aimed at propelling India’s exports, Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal convened with leaders from multiple Export Promotion Councils in New Delhi on Monday. The dialogue underscored sector-tailored approaches to navigate global opportunities.

Goyal posted on X: ‘Productive talks with EPC heads today. We discussed sector-specific priorities and gathered innovative inputs to enable Indian firms to thrive in exports and tap global trade prospects.’

A key highlight was brainstorming on utilizing fresh FTAs to broaden market entry and invigorate export activities. This aligns with Goyal’s recent spotlight on the landmark India-New Zealand FTA, achieved in just nine months.

Speaking at the India-New Zealand Business Forum with Trade Minister Todd McClay, Goyal painted a picture of complementary strengths. India’s massive consumer base, talent pool, digital infrastructure, and production might pair seamlessly with New Zealand’s leadership in agriculture technology, renewable energy, and financial tech.

He remarked, ‘Robust participation from business heads and aligned visions reveal vast avenues for intensified trade, investments, and collaborative innovation between India and New Zealand.’

Bilateral goods trade currently hovers at $1.3 billion, services at $634 million, with a bold target of $5 billion in five years. The 300,000-strong Indian community in New Zealand acts as a vital connector.

According to industry bodies, this pact reinforces India’s push for diversified partnerships in the Indo-Pacific region, fostering flexible, inclusive ties ready for tomorrow’s challenges. Such initiatives signal a robust roadmap for Indian exporters to claim a larger global share.
