Pakistan’s Balochistan Atrocities Exposed by Activist Amid India Row

Quetta-based Baloch rights defender Mir Yar Baloch has unleashed a blistering attack on Pakistan, accusing it of rampant hypocrisy after Islamabad criticized a student protest in India. In a series of viral posts and videos, Baloch dismantled Pakistan’s narrative, exposing systemic abuses against Baloch students and educators.

Pakistan’s Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Andrabi had taken aim at a demonstration during an RSS-linked event at Jamia Millia Islamia in New Delhi. Baloch fired back, asserting that Pakistan—guilty of shuttering Baloch institutions and jailing readers—lacks the credibility to comment on India’s democratic freedoms.

On platform X, Baloch contrasted the two nations starkly: ‘India empowers students with access to education and expression; Pakistan imprisons them alongside their books in Balochistan.’ He presented evidence of security crackdowns, including bans on Baloch literature and raids on libraries and university grounds.

Videos shared by Baloch showed alleged seizures of books by Pakistani intelligence, military, and officials. He described a chilling environment where students face arrests for merely possessing literature, turning universities into zones of fear rather than learning.

Referencing the infamous 2019 hidden camera incident at Balochistan University targeting women students, Baloch labeled it a profound breach of dignity. He further alleged thousands of arbitrary detentions, tortures, and fatalities among Baloch youth, fostering an atmosphere of terror among families.

Baloch highlighted the irony: criminals and narcotics lords operate with impunity, yet intellectuals and activists are hunted down. He also condemned cross-border aggression, citing missile attacks on an Afghan university that claimed student lives.

This outspoken revelation positions Pakistan under intense scrutiny, with Baloch calling for worldwide recognition of Balochistan’s plight. His narrative underscores a stark divide between rhetoric and reality in Pakistan’s human rights record.
