Intense heat is poised to engulf Ahmedabad next week, with the IMD predicting maximum temperatures touching 44°C. Starting April 28, an orange alert blankets the city for six consecutive days, underscoring the gravity of the impending heatwave.

Effective until May 4 morning, the alert includes a single yellow alert day amid forecasts of relentless daytime highs from 43-44°C and overnight lows near 28°C. This forecast demands heightened preparedness from authorities and residents alike.

IMD’s detailed projections cover 20 wards in six zones, facilitating precise tracking of heat patterns. Hotspots have been pinpointed for the coming three days, arming the city with targeted vigilance.

A innovative QR code platform allows easy access to localized temperature readings and hotspot notifications, focusing on afternoon peaks from 1 PM to 5 PM. This tech-driven approach empowers communities to stay ahead of the heat.

AMC’s advisory emphasizes prevention: keep water handy, boost intake of hydrating drinks like nimbu pani and chaas, and shun the midday sun. Opt for breathable cotton attire in light shades to beat the swelter.

Avoid heavy, spicy, or processed foods, and limit caffeine and sodas. Vulnerable groups—kids, elderly, and expectant mothers—require extra care.

Watch for heat stroke signs including profuse sweating, fatigue, throbbing headaches, vertigo, flushed skin, cramps, and gastric distress. Ahmedabad’s summer battle has just begun, but informed actions can safeguard lives.
