Jharkhand is bracing for a spell of rain and hailstorms as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) signals an end to the current heatwave. After days of sweltering heat where temperatures touched record highs in districts like Palamu and Seraikela, a moisture-laden weather system is moving in. This transition is expected to lower the maximum temperature by three to five degrees, offering a cooler start to the month of May. The weather alert, which remains active until May 2, highlights the possibility of severe weather events including lightning and hailstorms. While Ranchi recorded a temperature of 41 degrees Celsius recently, the upcoming rainfall is expected to provide a significant cooling effect. Authorities have warned that the shift will be accompanied by squally winds reaching speeds of 50 to 60 kmph.
