Srinagar’s law enforcement has struck a decisive blow against narcotics smuggling by attaching ₹1.5 crore worth of immovable property from a key suspect. Under the ambitious ‘Nasha Mukt Jammu-Kashmir’ initiative, this move underscores the administration’s commitment to eradicating drug networks at their financial roots.

Police at Rainawari station invoked provisions of NDPS Act Section 68-F to seize the single-storey home on 11 marla land from Bilal Ahmad Patoo of Saidakadal’s Sultan Mohalla. Already facing charges in prior NDPS cases, Patoo’s property probe confirmed it stemmed directly from drug trafficking profits amassed over years.

Authorities highlighted the seizure’s role in weakening the economic power of traffickers. ‘By hitting their assets, we’re not just punishing individuals but dismantling the entire profit-driven ecosystem of drugs,’ officials noted. This follows a similar ₹3.5 crore property attachment earlier in the week, demonstrating relentless pursuit.

Community response has been overwhelmingly positive, with locals anticipating a tangible decline in drug availability. Police have ramped up public appeals for tips on trafficking, promising swift action. Looking ahead, intensified campaigns promise no leniency for those fueling this menace, positioning Jammu and Kashmir on a path to recovery from the drug crisis.
