Prime Minister Narendra Modi marked a milestone for Arunachal Pradesh by remotely unveiling an indoor cricket academy in Doimukh on April 28. Jointly built by BCCI and the Arunachal Cricket Association, this cutting-edge venue addresses long-standing training hurdles in the monsoon-prone region.
PM Modi highlighted its potential during the virtual event: the academy will polish regional talents, provide essential tools for national competition, and elevate Northeast India’s sports infrastructure. Equipped with high-tech nets, a premium gym, swimming pool, and fitness center, it enables uninterrupted practice throughout the year.
Arunachal Cricket Board President Nabam Vivek celebrated the launch as a game-changer. ‘This world-class indoor stadium solves our monsoon woes, which last 6-7 months. Arunachal leads the Northeast in this facility, and we’re pushing BCCI for a Ranji Trophy venue,’ he enthused. The setup ensures boys and girls train relentlessly, building a robust cricketing future.
Cricketer Techi Doria shared his excitement: ‘Rains used to halt our sessions, but now BCCI’s gift and PM Modi’s blessings mean seamless training. We’re grateful.’
Beyond cricket, this development underscores government commitment to inclusive growth. As players hit the nets, Doimukh emerges as a hub for emerging stars, potentially producing Northeast’s next big cricket sensations.
