In a powerful address from Krishna district, Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu laid bare the financial muscle behind the state’s social security net. The government pours ₹33,000 crore each year into pensions for the vulnerable – an expenditure without parallel across the nation, as Naidu proudly stated on Friday.
With 62.47 lakh beneficiaries receiving monthly payouts, the scheme has already consumed more than ₹63,000 crore over 22 months. At the NTR Bharosa pension distribution event in Pamidimukala, Pamarru, Naidu didn’t mince words: ‘₹2,700 crore is pre-allocated monthly. This isn’t expenditure; it’s our responsibility to uplift the underprivileged.’
Reflecting on the TDP-led NDA government’s journey since taking office, Naidu highlighted relentless efforts to reconstruct shattered infrastructure and revive Andhra’s prestige. Collaborations with Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan and PM Narendra Modi have fueled this reconstruction drive.
On the electricity front, Naidu doubled down on fulfilling manifesto commitments by slashing tariffs and ruling out future increases. Contrasting with past governments’ nine hikes, he positioned his administration as people-centric and transparent.
Introducing a new accountability mechanism, the CM announced live feedback sessions on MLAs at public rallies. ‘I’m on the side of the citizens, reviewing legislators publicly. True progress comes when leaders and bureaucrats align for the greater good,’ Naidu concluded, rallying the audience.
