The Jharkhand government has significantly enhanced the medical cover for its employees by increasing the insurance limit under the Abua Card scheme from Rs 5 lakh to Rs 15 lakh. Health Minister Irfan, speaking at a recent event in Ranchi, noted that this expansion is a direct response to the rising costs of specialized medical treatments. The scheme now covers approximately 2 lakh employees and their families, bringing the total number of beneficiaries to over seven lakh. This initiative is tailored to provide financial relief and ensure that state workers do not have to compromise on the quality of treatment due to monetary constraints. Last year alone, the state facilitated treatment for over 10,000 patients, spending approximately 51 crore rupees, proving the scheme’s vital role in the community. The Minister reiterated that the government is committed to protecting its workforce from medical inflation.
