Jaipur’s administration has greenlit a much-awaited 2% bump in Dearness Allowance for its vast employee base, a direct response to Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma’s instructions. Under the 7th Pay Commission, DA/DR now stands at 60% from the previous 58%, kicking in from January 1, 2026.

Around 7.02 lakh state workers and 5.44 lakh pension recipients stand to gain, extending to local body employees in panchayats and zila parishads. This comprehensive coverage ensures no one in the public service ecosystem is left behind.

Payment details are clear: Revised DA hits employee salaries in May 2026, paid out in June, with early 2026 arrears funneled into GPF accounts. Pensioners enjoy straightforward cash increments from day one of the new year.

The move highlights Rajasthan’s dedication to fiscal welfare amid soaring prices. It’s designed to cushion the impact of inflation on daily budgets. At an extra Rs 1,156 crore yearly cost, the state affirms that employee support trumps budgetary constraints.

This aligns with the Union Cabinet’s parallel decision, hiking DA for 49.19 lakh central employees and 68.72 lakh pensioners, totaling 1.17 crore beneficiaries and Rs 6,791 crore expenditure. Both governments emphasize arrears from January, promoting equity.

In an era of economic flux, these adjustments are vital for morale and stability. Rajasthan’s swift action not only aids finances but also bolsters trust in governance.
