A heartwarming story has emerged from the Sarguja district of Chhattisgarh, where a wedding ceremony flipped traditional scripts. Mohan Ekka, a local farmer and father of four daughters, decided to break tradition to ensure his family’s future. Having no sons to assist him with farming and household responsibilities, Ekka chose to bring a son home through his daughter’s marriage. The groom’s family agreed to this progressive arrangement, leading to a ceremony where the bride brought the ‘Baraat’ to the groom’s house. Instead of the traditional ‘Kanyadaan,’ the families performed a ‘Vardaan’ ceremony, where the groom’s parents handed over their son to the bride’s family. The groom became visibly emotional, crying as he left his ancestral residence to join his new family.
