A chilling murder case in Patna’s Bypass area has reached a conclusion following a clever piece of detective work by the local police. The investigation into the death of a 10-year-old girl, who was killed while running a simple errand for milk, pivoted on the discovery of goat hair found on the blanket wrapping her remains. This small detail allowed investigators to narrow down their search to local residents who owned goats, leading them directly to the doorstep of the suspect, Ranjit. The police team, led by SSP Kartikeya K. Sharma, conducted a meticulous sweep of the neighborhood. They identified a suspicious residence where goats were tethered outside. Although the room appeared locked, police sensed movement and broke in to find Ranjit hiding in the stifling heat. Under intense questioning, the suspect admitted he had kept the girl’s body hidden under his bed before attempting to dispose of it in a pile of refuse at 2:00 AM due to the presence of police patrols.
