Early leads from Gandhinagar district’s local elections highlight BJP’s commanding performance, particularly in Kalol taluka panchayat where the party has captured eight of the 12 seats counted. This development comes amid fierce rivalries with Congress in various wards.
Counting began on Monday, revealing dramatic wins. BJP’s candidate in Adalaj demolished the opposition with a 5,600-vote margin, setting the tone for the day. Congress countered effectively in Moti Bhoyan taluka, with Manjulaben’s 1,374-vote victory and Kailashben Thakor’s parallel success breathing life into their campaign.
Kalol’s Chhatral ward delivered for BJP as Jatin Nadiya sailed to victory. Sarojben Rajeshbhai Thakor followed suit, amassing more than 1,923 votes. In Manasa, Rupesh Kumar Vishnu Bhai Patel claimed Mandli, while Dehgam’s Amarjina Muwada went to Parulben Dhanraj Singh Chauhan.
At the district panchayat level, BJP’s Anandiben Thakor dominated Dabhoda, and Dilip Singh Solanki aced Chiloda. Chala-7 and victories for Geeta Ben Desai rounded out a stellar lineup.
Additional BJP wins came from Hitesh Patel in Nardipur and Dahiben Thakor in another Kalol seat. With 12 of 22 Kalol seats announced—eight for BJP and four for Congress—the results point to BJP’s entrenched popularity. Congress’s gains in select areas inject suspense, but the overall trend favors the ruling party as more votes are tallied.
