Uttarakhand’s rail landscape is set for transformation with the central government’s approval of a direct train from Ramnagar to Dehradun. State Rajya Sabha member Anil Baluni took to social media to thank Rail Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, calling it a game-changer for inter-regional travel.

The announcement came via an official letter from Vaishnaw, responding to Baluni’s persistent advocacy. This new service will bridge the gap between Kumaon and Garhwal, making commutes faster and more reliable for thousands of residents.

‘Gratitude to the Rail Minister for prioritizing Uttarakhand’s needs,’ Baluni posted on X. He emphasized how this fits into a broader wave of rail enhancements, including recent launches like the Kathgodam-Dehradun Naini-Doon Express and the high-speed Vande Bharat to Lucknow.

Under PM Modi’s vision, Uttarakhand has seen remarkable progress in infrastructure. Baluni pointed out that these projects not only cut travel costs but also invigorate local economies through increased tourism and business activities.

Travelers will no longer endure long, indirect routes, saving precious hours and resources. Vaishnaw’s letter explicitly approved the route in response to Baluni’s January 2026 communication, marking yet another public welfare decision.

This approval signals ongoing efforts to integrate remote areas into the national rail grid, promising economic upliftment and easier access to Dehradun’s hubs for Ramnagar’s populace.
