India’s defence landscape is set for a tech revolution as Rajnath Singh, the Defence Minister, inaugurates the ‘Uttar Technology Symposium’ in Prayagraj on May 4. This three-day extravaganza, themed ‘Defence Triveni Sangam,’ unites technology, industry, and soldier prowess under one roof, hosted by the Indian Army’s Northern and Central Commands with SIDM.
The spotlight falls on operational hurdles, with the event acting as a vibrant hub for displaying state-of-the-art homegrown tech. Participants include a diverse mix: MSMEs, private defence tech companies, startups, and serving soldiers. Expect demos of drones, rugged all-terrain vehicles, surveillance gear, and smart logistics systems.
A whopping 284 firms are gearing up with stalls brimming with novel solutions. The symposium eyes technologies suited for deployment and upkeep in challenging terrains, aiming to fast-track acquisitions and nurture an Atmanirbhar defence ecosystem. Indian Army leaders have long championed continuous innovation to counter dynamic threats.
Running till May 6, the program features in-depth seminars on defence R&D, manufacturing advancements, and self-reliance strategies. It forges vital links among military brass, researchers, business tycoons, and academics, all geared towards bolstering technological superiority and security.
Security measures are airtight for Singh’s arrival, with Arail Ghat turned into a no-fly zone. Heavy police presence ensures safety, as this gathering heralds a new era of indigenous defence capabilities.
