Chhattisgarh’s Mahasamund police scored a significant victory in the war on drugs with the bust of an interstate ganja smuggling racket. The Anti-Narcotics Task Force, in collaboration with local police, recovered 47.300 kg of ganja worth Rs 23.65 lakh and attached properties valued at Rs 59.51 lakh, comprising vehicles, cash, and gadgets.

The breakthrough came after intelligence inputs indicated a truck loaded with ganja from Odisha was heading towards Chhattisgarh. Nakabandi was enforced, and upon searching the vehicle, officers found the drugs cleverly concealed. Three adults were taken into custody, and two juveniles faced appropriate legal proceedings.

Further probing exposed the supply route from Odisha’s Kalahandi to Mungeli in Chhattisgarh, with connections to Balangir. Named accused are Mohammad Miraj, Rohit Pond from Balangir, and Deepak Sahu from Mungeli. This seizure is part of a broader campaign where Mahasamund police have nabbed 192 traffickers and confiscated over 5,685 kg of ganja in 74 cases over three months.

Authorities vow to pursue a thorough probe into the syndicate’s operations, from source to destination, including money trails. Such decisive actions are disrupting narcotics networks and sending a strong message to smugglers operating across state lines.
