Noida’s medical community is reeling from a profound loss after a 19-year-old lab technician trainee ended his life at Child PGI Hospital in Sector-30. Awadhesh Kumar, hailing from Shravasti’s Bhinga village, was discovered deceased in a campus room, having hanged himself from a fan on April 21.

The Sector-20 police acted promptly on a PCR alert, securing the site and confirming the apparent suicide through preliminary checks. Legal procedures were followed meticulously: the body was documented via panchnama and sent for autopsy. No disruptions occurred, and family members have been informed as investigations deepen.

Living on-site for his training program, Awadhesh’s sudden death has left colleagues and staff devastated. Though motives are unclear pending the postmortem findings, this case highlights a disturbing trend of rising suicides among students facing relentless pressures from studies, jobs, and expectations.

In recent years, similar incidents have spotlighted the urgent need for mental health interventions in high-stress training facilities. Schools, colleges, and hospitals must integrate robust support systems, including 24/7 counseling hotlines and peer support groups. As Noida grieves, calls grow louder for systemic changes to prevent such irreplaceable losses and foster resilience in vulnerable youth.
