Telugu cinema’s powerhouse Allu Arjun has emerged victorious in Delhi High Court, where judges issued a sweeping injunction against the misuse of his personal attributes through AI and deepfake innovations. This ruling targets e-commerce sites and digital platforms peddling fake endorsements and harmful content in his name.
During the hearing before Justice Tusshar Rao Gedela, Allu Arjun detailed how unauthorized parties cloned his voice for scam calls and morphed his image into vulgar videos, eroding his hard-earned public image. These violations extend to fraudulent product sales masquerading as his endorsements.
The court lauded Allu Arjun’s illustrious career, starting as a child in ‘Vijeta’ and skyrocketing with pan-India hits ‘Pushpa: The Rise’ and ‘Pushpa 2: The Rule.’ His distinctive persona—encompassing looks, speech patterns, gestures, and style—is now legally safeguarded as trademarked intellectual property.
Pronouncing the misuse evident at first glance, the bench warned of irreparable harm that monetary compensation cannot remedy. No entity may exploit his identity for personal or commercial gain, online or offline, via any advanced tech like deepfakes or generative AI.
Immediate actions include purging offending links within 72 hours, with platforms obligated to monitor and remove future infringements swiftly. This proactive stance addresses the escalating dangers of AI-driven impersonation in the entertainment world.
The case advances with arguments before the Joint Registrar on July 14 and final proceedings on September 24, signaling a robust judicial shield for celebrities in the digital age.
