The Sultanganj-Aguwani four-lane bridge project in Bihar, which has already missed 12 deadlines, is now making headlines for a five-day religious ceremony aimed at ensuring its completion. Following three major collapses in 2022, 2023, and 2024, the SP Singla Construction Company has invited Vedic scholars from Varanasi to perform a ‘Chandi Path’ at the project site. This move comes after religious experts suggested that the recurring accidents might be due to ‘Vastu Dosha’ affecting pillars 5, 10, and 11.
Project managers have emphasized that while technical investigations into the previous collapses are ongoing and a new design is being implemented, they are also seeking spiritual solace to boost the morale of the workforce. The first major disaster occurred in April 2022 when 36 segments fell due to strong winds, followed by a massive super-structure collapse into the Ganga in June 2023. A third incident in August 2024 further delayed the project. With the new completion target set for 2028, the company is leaving no stone unturned—combining rigorous engineering audits with elaborate Vedic rituals and Ganga Aarti to ensure the structure’s longevity.
