Chinese Premier Li Qiang wrapped up a three-day inspection in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, from April 29 to May 1, spotlighting water networks, canals, and green conservation efforts.

Starting in Nanning, Li Qiang inspected the water irrigation junction and emergency response facilities. ‘The water network is pivotal for flood prevention, disaster reduction, efficient resource distribution, and national water security,’ he stated. Beyond basics, it supports multi-functions like shipping, eco-protection, and tourism. He pushed for faster builds and tighter linkages across components.

In Qinzhou, discussions centered on the crucial Fanglu Canal, a cornerstone of the western land-sea corridor. Essential for linking rivers to seas and land to oceans, the premier demanded top-tier construction to ensure timely navigability. At the smart container terminal, he advocated elevating port institutions and smart tech integration for superior performance.

Beihai’s visit highlighted ecological priorities. With water scarcity varying across China, Li Qiang insisted on prioritizing water ecology in network projects. Enhancing major diversion schemes would improve allocation and supply reliability.

Li Qiang’s directives signal a push for high-quality, innovative infrastructure to drive regional growth and resilience.
