Pezeshkian: Iran Defends Itself, Rejects War with US-Israel

Amid heightened geopolitical friction, Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian has made it clear: Tehran wants no part in war and is responding only to threats against its security.

In an interview with ISNA, the president highlighted Iran’s peaceful history. He noted that the country has never launched unprovoked attacks and prioritizes regional calm above all.

Turning the spotlight on adversaries, Pezeshkian accused the U.S. and Israel of targeting civilian sites, actions he deems illegal under global treaties. This, he argued, exposes hypocritical stances on humanitarian issues.

The Iranian leader directly challenged Donald Trump’s assertions about curbing Iran’s nuclear capabilities. ‘What crime has Iran committed that justifies stripping us of our rights? Trump has no answer,’ Pezeshkian retorted.

The nuclear standoff between Iran and the U.S. persists, with Tehran insisting on its lawful pursuits. Senior officials, including Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, reinforced this in recent media appearances.

Ghalibaf, a key figure in negotiations, voiced skepticism about American reliability during a TV spot. ‘We seek enduring stability despite our distrust of the U.S.,’ he said, outlining Iran’s vision for a war-free horizon.

Pezeshkian’s outspoken defense comes at a critical juncture, as world powers watch closely for signs of de-escalation or further escalation in the volatile Middle East.
