The Lok Sabha’s rejection of the landmark women’s reservation bill has ignited outrage among NDA women leaders in Bihar. Branding the opposition as betrayers of women’s rights, they warned that the nation’s women will hold them accountable forever.
In a strongly worded statement, BJP’s Darshana Singh painted a picture of modern Indian women excelling as athletes, scientists, doctors, soldiers, and pilots. Quoting Babasaheb Ambedkar, she emphasized that a society’s advancement is judged by its women’s status. PM Modi’s schemes have been game-changers, but the opposition’s parliamentary sabotage has robbed women of equality.
“Our government is fully committed to women’s rights,” Singh declared, lambasting Congress and others for their historical disrespect toward women. She revealed how opposition parties have repeatedly derailed the bill over 30 years.
Leshi Singh, ex-Bihar minister, called out the double standards: opposition dynasties thrive in politics, yet they block paths for marginalized women from rural backgrounds, Dalits, Adivasis, and backwards classes.
Joining the chorus, fellow NDA leaders praised the NDA’s empowerment drives — from self-help groups to military inductions — and accused rivals of mere lip service. This escalating war of words underscores deepening political divides ahead of key polls, with women’s votes potentially tipping the scales.
