Ayodhya’s revered saints unleashed a barrage of criticism against opposition leaders following the collapse of the women’s reservation bill in the Lok Sabha. The Constitution amendment, seeking one-third reservation for women in legislative bodies based on the 2011 census delimitation, couldn’t muster the two-thirds support needed, stalling a key empowerment initiative.

Leading the charge, Mahant Sitaram Das of Saket Bhawan Temple declared the opposition’s resistance a blatant assault on women’s dignity. He invoked ancient wisdom: ‘Where women are worshipped, gods dwell there,’ accusing Congress, SP, TMC, and AAP of chronic disregard for cultural sanctity. Das expressed faith in PM Modi’s resolve, predicting the bill’s triumphant return with a decisive public mandate.

Tapaswi Chhavni’s Paramhansa Acharya reflected on Modi’s heartfelt address, observing his pain at the dream deferred. ‘Opposition wants women’s ballots, not their leadership,’ he said, exposing hypocritical politics.

Varun Das, an Arya saint, advocated for women’s quota to bolster democracy, joined by Iqbal Ansari who affirmed that Indian laws and customs demand gender parity in politics for holistic societal progress.

This episode reveals entrenched resistance to gender reforms, as spiritual voices from Ayodhya rally behind the government’s vision, calling for electoral reckoning to secure women’s parliamentary representation.
