RJD Leads Women’s Tickets in Bihar: Tejashwi Hits Back at Critics

Amid swirling political controversies over women’s quota, Tejashwi Yadav, RJD’s national executive president, launched a scathing attack on the NDA government Sunday. Far from opposing reservation, Yadav advocated for a robust 50% allocation for women in assemblies and Parliament.

In a media briefing in Patna, the opposition leader unveiled impressive stats underscoring RJD’s commitment. The party fielded women candidates for 29% of Bihar seats in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, resulting in 25% female MPs. Bihar Assembly polls saw 17% women nominees, while the state Legislative Council features 21.4% RJD women members—outpacing all rivals.

Yadav mocked CM Samrat Choudhary’s leadership, claiming PMO officials are micromanaging Bihar’s administration. He dared BJP to match RJD’s record, noting that the state’s historic female CM and recent Union Minister were both RJD products.

Labeling NDA as ‘fake champions’ of women, Yadav charged that in 75 years, neither BJP nor JD(U) elevated any Bihari woman to top national or state posts. He urged a women’s bill prioritizing village women over city dwellers and cautioned against delimitation tricks that fragment opposition bastions.

With the Women’s Reservation Bill lingering since its passage three years back, Yadav’s data-driven defense reframes the narrative, spotlighting RJD’s tangible actions against NDA’s empty promises in Bihar’s gender politics.
