In a blockbuster start to FY26, Maruti Suzuki India reported its best-ever April performance, dispatching 2,39,646 vehicles—a 33% year-on-year increase over last April’s 1,79,791 units. This surge across domestic and export markets highlights resilient consumer demand amid economic recovery and a shift towards versatile vehicles.
Breaking records once more, domestic sales hit 1,91,122 units, eclipsing the prior peak of 1,82,165 from December 2024. Entry-level mini cars like Alto K10 and S-Presso exploded with 16,066 sales, more than doubling from 6,332 units. The compact segment, led by Swift, Baleno, Dzire, and WagonR, contributed 80,659 units, building on last year’s 61,912.
SUVs continued their hot streak, with Brezza, Grand Vitara, Ertiga, and Fronx accounting for 77,892 units, up from 59,022. Super Carry’s 3,418 units remained flat, but exports jumped 44% to 40,054 units, boosting overall figures.
Maruti’s production prowess shone through with 23.4 lakh units in FY25-26, a first for any Indian passenger vehicle maker. The company now eyes ramping up to 40 lakh annual units, investing heavily in capacity expansion and new models to capture evolving buyer preferences in a competitive landscape.
