Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav dropped a major election bombshell in Lucknow on Monday, outlining transformative welfare schemes for Uttar Pradesh if SP sweeps to power in 2027. The highlights include free electricity up to 300 units for all households and a generous Rs 40,000 annual pension for women, aimed at empowering the state’s female population.
Addressing an enthusiastic gathering of cadres from various regions including Bundelkhand at the party office, Yadav didn’t hold back in criticizing the BJP government. He painted a grim picture of failing public services: erratic power supply, crumbling hospitals, skyrocketing prices, and fertilizer shortages hitting farmers hard.
The smart meter rollout came under fire as Yadav branded it a ‘grand loot.’ Consumers are being fleeced with unexplained bill surges, he charged, linking it to corrupt deals where firms bribe officials upfront and recover costs from users. Public outrage is boiling over this ‘EVM-like tampering’ in meters, he added.
Yadav rallied workers by referencing the party’s strong 2024 Lok Sabha performance, vowing to build on it for a 2027 landslide. ‘United we fight, united we win every seat against BJP,’ he exhorted. He accused the regime of undermining democracy, constitution, and basic services like power, schools, and healthcare.
Promising restoration of law and order, Yadav assured justice for every community under SP governance. He brushed off BJP’s propaganda as futile, noting the widespread disillusionment with corruption peaks, inflation woes, poor women safety, and eroded trust. The winds of change are blowing strong, with people yearning for SP’s people-first agenda.
