In a show of fervent support, residents of Barrackpore turned out in droves for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Vijay Sankalp rally on Monday. Conversations with attendees revealed deep frustration with the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) and a strong call for BJP governance.
‘Women’s respect can’t be measured in rupees,’ charged Preeti Mukherjee, slamming Mamata Banerjee’s response to rape cases. She rallied behind Modi, insisting Bengal’s people stand with BJP against TMC’s threats.
Industrial woes took center stage with BJP activist Santosh Gupta. ‘Factories closed, growth halted—we’ve suffered enough under Left and TMC. BJP will restart Bengal’s engines,’ he said optimistically.
Early birds like Pratima Das and Mala Shah focused on gender safety. ‘From 6 AM, we’ve waited for Modi. Bengal’s women need BJP now,’ Das said. Shah added that the state’s situation for females is ‘unimaginable,’ demanding immediate change.
Enthusiasts Sudeepto Sen and Sunita Mandal amplified the sentiment. Sen envisioned a ‘nationalist double-engine’ post-May 4, while Mandal blasted TMC’s authoritarianism. As Modi’s speech loomed, the rally underscored BJP’s growing momentum in West Bengal’s political battleground.
