Imagine arriving at Gujarat’s pristine beaches or lush forests, knowing help is just a tap away. That’s the vision behind the state’s latest push: tourist-friendly police stations in Gir Somnath, Devbhumi Dwarka, and Dang. Announced after a pivotal meeting led by DGP KLN Rao, this multi-pronged strategy includes help desks, kiosks, and a dedicated mobile app to safeguard visitors.

Held on Tuesday with key district SPs and the IG (Administration) present, the meeting acted on conference suggestions to prioritize tourism zones. Deputy CM Harsh Sanghvi’s oversight ensures phase one targets these high-traffic areas. Outdated police chowkies will get a facelift, incorporating modern tech and optimal staffing.

Distinctive uniforms and branded vehicles will make tourist police instantly recognizable, fostering trust. The app will centralize services—maps, alerts, translations—while physical help points provide on-ground aid. Directives to SPs stress procuring new vehicles and building solid infrastructure.

DGP Rao highlighted the broader goal: beyond enforcement, create a hospitable vibe for global tourists. This aligns with Gujarat’s ambition to become a world-class destination. With enhanced safety nets, expect a surge in footfall to sites like the Gir Lion Sanctuary, Dwarka’s sacred temples, and Dang’s tribal heartlands.

Stakeholders praise the proactive approach, predicting it will mitigate risks like theft or navigation issues. As Gujarat rolls out these changes, it positions itself as India’s tourism safety pioneer, inviting adventurers to explore without fear.
