In a landmark moment for data-driven governance, Jharkhand Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar inaugurated the Census 2027 mega campaign by entering his own details into the state portal at Lok Bhawan on Friday. This self-enumeration drive signals a new era of efficient, tech-savvy population tracking.
The Governor’s address highlighted data as the cornerstone of progress. He explained how census figures illuminate housing patterns, socioeconomic conditions, and societal dynamics, enabling targeted interventions in key sectors like healthcare and education.
The initial phase prioritizes housing listings, with online self-registration open via OTP from May 1 to 15. Field enumerators will follow up for verification, ensuring data integrity through a blend of digital and on-ground efforts.
Calling for public participation, Gangwar stressed the shared responsibility: ‘Don’t hesitate—provide accurate details to secure your area’s future benefits.’ He cautioned against misinformation that could skew policy allocations.
The event saw key attendees like DC Manjunath Bhajantri and Chief Census Officer Prabhat Kumar demonstrating the portal’s features. Jharkhand’s emphasis on digital tools promises faster, error-free results, setting a model for nationwide census operations.
