In a significant push towards empowered local governance, the Ministry of Panchayati Raj announces a two-day national workshop on Panchayat Development Plans (PDPs) scheduled for May 4 and 5, 2026, at Dr. Ambedkar International Centre in New Delhi. The event focuses on building robust, community-centric plans that meet the 16th Finance Commission’s standards and yield tangible results for villages.
Officials revealed that the workshop will strengthen ground-level data-based participatory planning, viewing developed panchayats as building blocks of Viksit Bharat. Inauguration by Ministry Secretary Vivek Bhardwaj and DWS Secretary Ashok K.K. Meena will feature main speeches, setting the tone for in-depth deliberations.
Key launches include the PPC booklet for 2026-27 PDP preparation, GPDP quality guidelines booklet, and a revamped e-GramSwaraj portal. Sessions will delve into thematic PDP transformations and 16th FC grant structures.
Participants, including top bureaucrats from states, UTs, and stakeholders, will engage in technical discussions and practical exercises. State and UT teams will craft model plans on ten fronts: livelihoods, health, child governance, water security, sanitation, infrastructure, social justice, governance excellence, women’s empowerment, plus PESA and FRA adherence using the updated portal.
This workshop marks a milestone in decentralizing development, ensuring panchayats drive India’s rural transformation with precision and participation.
