In a bold post-election statement, Maharashtra Congress chief Harshwardhan Sapkal declared that South India’s voters have repudiated the BJP’s poisonous divisiveness and PM Modi’s stewardship. The assembly polls in five states exposed the BJP’s reliance on trickery, bribes, pressure, and polarization—tactics that crumbled in the South.

Sapkal pointed to West Bengal, where the central government allegedly weaponized the Election Commission, ignoring rules and traditions. Deployment of NIA, CRPF, and tough cops aimed to intimidate, securing BJP wins through dubious means. But this ‘venomous strategy’ hit a wall in Southern states, mirroring rejection of Modi’s leadership.

Kerala’s Congress triumph, Sapkal said, reaffirms faith in democratic values and Rahul Gandhi’s vision. It’s a beacon for the party, sparking nationwide zeal that will propel Congress forward.

Echoing this, spokesperson Sachin Sawant took a jab at BJP celebrating in the homeland of Jan Sangh founder Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, who betrayed the 1942 freedom struggle by siding with the British. This extremist ideology, once opposed by Netaji Bose, now infiltrates his birthplace—a poignant irony.

As political fault lines deepen, South India’s stance signals challenges ahead for BJP’s pan-India ambitions, boosting opposition morale.
