In the wake of the devastating boiler-related explosion at the Vedanta Limited thermal power plant in Chhattisgarh, both the state government and the company management have announced financial packages for the victims. The death toll from the accident stands at 17. The management of Vedanta Limited has committed to providing Rs 35 lakh in compensation to the families of each deceased worker, along with the promise of employment for a family member. Furthermore, the company has stated it will continue to pay the salaries of the deceased to their families. For those injured in the blast, Vedanta has pledged Rs 15 lakh each, in addition to covering all medical expenses. This corporate response comes alongside the state government’s immediate relief of Rs 5 lakh per death and Rs 50,000 for injuries.
