Dhamtari district has created a new history in the field of rural development and empowerment in Chhattisgarh. According to the latest data released by the state government on the Panchayat Development Index (PDI), Gram Panchayats of Dhamtari district have performed splendidly. The biggest achievement in this regard belongs to Mandraud Gram Panchayat of Kurud development block, which secured the first position in the entire state by achieving 94.4 marks in ‘Poverty Free and Livelihood Enhancement’ (Theme-1).
Dhamtari Emerges as a Modern Model of Sustainable Development
Not only Mandraud, but other panchayats of the district have also made their mark in the PDI rankings. By achieving A+ and A grades in categories like ‘Healthy Panchayat’, ‘Water-Rich Panchayat’, and ‘Clean and Green Panchayat’, many panchayats of the district have proven that the government’s schemes are not just on paper but are being implemented strongly on the ground.
“An Inspiration for the Entire State”
State leadership and local administration have expressed joy over this historic achievement. Deputy Chief Minister and Panchayat Minister Shri Vijay Sharma congratulated Mandraud Panchayat and said that the Chhattisgarh government is committed to making Gram Panchayats self-reliant. Mandraud’s success will become a source of inspiration and a model for innovation for other panchayats in the state. MLA Shri Ajay Chandrakar attributed this victory to collective efforts, stating that it is the fruit of the hard work of local representatives, panchayat staff, and aware villagers. Dhamtari is setting new standards of development. The Collector described this achievement as a victory for transparent governance. He said that the district administration’s goal is to deliver the government’s welfare schemes to the last person, and this ranking is a milestone in that direction.

Three main pillars have been behind the success of Mandraud and other panchayats of Dhamtari. Ensuring 100% benefit of government schemes reached eligible beneficiaries. Ensuring active public participation of villagers in development works and promoting local employment and self-employment opportunities for poverty alleviation by focusing on livelihoods. This proud achievement of Dhamtari district is writing a new chapter of rural empowerment and holistic development in Chhattisgarh.
