Tensions have escalated in the Kasba block of Purnia following a shocking hit-and-run incident involving the son of a powerful local leader. Mohammad Rizwan, the son of the Sabdalpur Panchayat Mukhiya, is accused of intentionally running over a local resident, Rais Uddin, with his luxury SUV. Residents of Fatepur village describe Rizwan as a repeat offender who frequently misused his father’s political standing to intimidate others. On the day of the attack, he allegedly drove his siren-equipped vehicle recklessly through the village, ultimately targeting the victim following a heated argument. The collision left the victim with catastrophic injuries, and his family remains in deep shock as he remains on life support at the district hospital.
Community members have voiced their outrage, stating that the accused often acted as a local bully, frequently driving under the influence and brandishing his family’s influence. The case has raised serious questions about the safety of common citizens when faced with the arrogance of those connected to power. The victim’s family is now pleading with the state administration to ensure that the political status of the Mukhiya does not hinder the judicial process. Local activists have joined the call for justice, urging the Bihar Police to take exemplary action to deter such lawlessness in the future.
