Amid this relentless heat assault, physicians are highlighting the dangers of heatwave-induced ailments and sharing preventive strategies to safeguard public health.

In the battle against blistering heat, experts pinpoint vigilance and ORS consumption as the frontline defenses. Normally, the body hovers at 36.9°C internally. But extreme external heat forces it to soak up warmth, triggering sweating and accelerated respiration to dissipate it. Over time, however, these mechanisms falter under sustained assault.

Sweat loss flushes out vital fluids, sugars, and minerals, heightening dehydration risks. Without prompt intervention, victims face cramps, lightheadedness, exhaustion, frailty, and potentially fatal heatstroke or fainting. The ripple effects extend to critical systems: kidneys strain under fluid deficits, while hearts work overtime.

Watch for telltale signs like parched lips, concentrated urine, lethargy, spins, and limb aches. While hydration is key, specialists insist ORS trumps water for restoring electrolyte balance. Per WHO standards, mix 20.5 grams of ORS into a liter of cooled boiled water for use within a day.

Administrations are imploring residents to shun midday sun exposure, maintain fluid intake, and resort to ORS proactively. This heatwave isn’t just uncomfortable—it’s a health crisis in waiting. By adopting these habits now, communities can avert emergencies and navigate the summer safely.
