Madhya Pradesh farmers get a much-needed breather as the government pushes back wheat procurement dates to May 23. Originally set to end on May 9, the extended window allows slot bookings and sales without the usual rush.

Announcing via X, CM Mohan Yadav detailed the upgrades: six weighing scales per center now, up from fewer, with district-level flexibility for more. Daily quotas jump to 2,250 quintals per center, scalable to 3,000 if demand surges.

This overhaul targets smoother operations at procurement hubs, cutting down long waits that have plagued previous seasons. ‘Our priority is farmer convenience and maximum procurement,’ Yadav stated.

Authorities plan extra scales where queues build, ensuring swift weighing and payouts at assured MSP rates. The changes respond to feedback from the field, where high volumes threatened bottlenecks.

As rabi harvest peaks, this extension safeguards sales for late registrants and those facing logistical hurdles. It aligns with MP’s robust wheat output, positioning the state as a procurement powerhouse.

Farmers report relief, with many rebooking slots confidently. The government’s proactive stance not only aids immediate sales but also builds trust for future seasons.

Overall, these enhancements promise efficient procurement, timely payments, and reduced stress for growers. Madhya Pradesh continues leading in farmer-centric policies amid national agricultural drives.
