Maharashtra’s political landscape shifted dramatically as Sunetra Pawar secured a record-shattering 218,930-vote victory in the Baramati bypoll, eclipsing all prior benchmarks including her husband Ajit Pawar’s 2019 margin. Representing the NCP (Ajit faction), the Deputy CM’s wife turned the contest into a one-sided affair, with final tallies after 24 rounds confirming her as India’s bypoll champion.

Opponents crumbled: Karuna Mundhe got 125 votes, Abhijit Bichukale 121, none of the 22 others reaching triple digits. This surpasses Uttar Pradesh’s Sunil Kumar Sharma’s 2022 record of 214,835 votes, cementing Sunetra’s place in history.

Family unity propelled the wave—sons Parth and Jay’s campaigns fused with cross-party endorsements created an unstoppable voter surge. Parth, NCP MP, hailed the mandate: ‘We never imagined fighting under these conditions, but public faith overwhelms us. We’ll hold public hearings soon after the model code lifts.’

In Mumbai, Sunetra framed her win as homage to Ajit Dada. ‘Baramati’s trust honors his legacy. Stay calm, no processions or colors—let’s uphold his ideals,’ she implored. Thanking constituents, she vowed, ‘You’ve given me the chance to build Dada’s envisioned Baramati. With determination and hard work, a new era dawns.’

This bypoll, triggered by Ajit Pawar’s Rajya Sabha shift, underscores Baramati’s loyalty amid NCP splits. The massive margin bolsters the Mahayuti alliance, quelling doubts and projecting unassailable Pawar influence in Pune’s sugar belt.
