Delhi’s South East district kicked off preparations for Census 2027 with a high-level awareness seminar at PGDAV College, Nehru Nagar. Under the guidance of DCP Dr. Hemant Tiwari and District Magistrate Shrawan Bagdiya, the event united top police brass, administrative leaders, ADMs, SDMs, and SHOs to align strategies for the upcoming national headcount.
Designed to promote the self-enumeration feature introduced by the central government, the program sought to build synergy between law enforcement and civil services for hiccup-free census activities. Census officials unpacked the critical role of demographic data in shaping governance, from welfare distribution to city infrastructure and policy frameworks.
The session spotlighted the digital revolution in census taking: advanced mobile applications in 16 languages, real-time monitoring, and user-friendly online portals. Citizens can now independently log household and family data from home, starting with OTP verification, progressing through address selection and details entry, culminating in a shareable ID for enumerators.
Security took center stage, with in-depth talks on police support for census teams—coordination channels, protection in high-risk zones, quick-response units, and enhanced safeguards for female staff. In his address, DCP Tiwari called on residents to embrace self-enumeration responsibly, underscoring its foundation for reliable data-driven decisions. DM Bagdiya reinforced the need for collaborative action to guarantee transparency and efficiency.
Vigilance against online scams was a recurring theme, with clear warnings on protecting personal information. Ending on a resolute note, the gathering pledged comprehensive awareness drives, community engagement, and operational excellence for Census 2027 in the district.
