Speaking in Jammu on April 28, he described the incarceration as a profound betrayal of democratic ideals, affecting not just him but countless innocents.
“My voters’ aspirations were caged alongside me,” Malik reflected poignantly. Time, he noted, doesn’t return, and the lost months have dented public faith in positive change. He promised divine retribution for the perpetrators, framing his plight as part of a larger pattern where politicians are reduced to litigants in their own nation’s courts.
The MLA spotlighted the suffocating environment for opposition figures, where even raising valid concerns invites repression. He lambasted the surge in faith-based politicking, particularly in West Bengal, warning that such tactics erode democracy’s foundations. Recalling BJP’s absence during Congress’s 70-year reign, Malik advised leaders to prioritize constructive legacies over fleeting power plays.
“They’re planting hate while preaching world guru status—impossible without truth and unity,” he quipped. Malik decried the hypocrisy of government responses: swift rebukes for foreign detractors, but labels of sedition for locals pushing reforms. Insisting he never backed terror, he attributed his targeting to his Muslim identity.
Lauding Kejriwal’s secular successes in Delhi, Malik explained his AAP allegiance stemmed from tangible improvements in education, healthcare, and utilities. He challenged BJP: emulate these, and watch Muslim support soar. Instead of weaponizing religion, leaders should embody its true principles.
