Mira Road’s Naya Nagar neighborhood was plunged into fear when Zubair Ansari, a US-returned youth, stabbed two security guards after probing their religious identity. The Maharashtra administration has transferred the probe to the ATS amid fears of terrorist radicalization.

Eyewitness accounts reveal Ansari confronted guards Rajkumar Mishra and Subrato, asking their caste and faith before the brutal knife assault motivated by their Hindu identity and inability to recite the Kalma. Mishra underwent surgery and is unconscious, while the other guard is stable.

During searches at Ansari’s home, ATS found propaganda materials linked to ISIS, Islamic radical texts, and lone wolf ideology guides. With his parents in the US, official channels are being used to gather background information. The key question: Was Ansari directed by a handler or acting alone?

Speaking in Solapur, CM Devendra Fadnavis revealed preliminary findings of Ansari’s attraction to extremist ideologies and jihadist motives against Hindus. The case now falls under ATS and NIA scrutiny, with state backing. BJP’s Kirit Somaiya, after hospital visit, warned of growing jihadist threats in the state, noting Mishra’s grave injuries.

The apartment chowkidar portrayed Ansari as introverted and solitary. MLA Narendra Mehta slammed the faith-based probe preceding the attack as deplorable. ATS custody interrogation within 24 hours aims to uncover any larger conspiracy, keeping the region on high alert.
