TMC’s Derek O’Brien Faces Backlash from Dharmendra Pradhan on Bengal Polls Frenzy

The political heat in West Bengal has intensified with Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan launching a blistering attack on TMC’s Derek O’Brien for his undignified remarks following record voter turnout in recent polling phases. Pradhan’s response underscores the growing voter enthusiasm that appears to be rattling the ruling TMC.

O’Brien’s X post was direct and challenging. Mocking PM Modi’s past rhetoric, he wrote: ‘You said you’d field candidates on all 294 Bengal seats. Now cut the big talk. Mamata Banerjee and TMC triumph on May 4. Take the bet and step down as PM.’ This bold provocation came against the backdrop of impressive polling percentages across constituencies.

Pradhan, undeterred, hit back with a post dissecting O’Brien’s disconnect from ground realities. ‘The hubris in such statements proves Derek O’Brien’s detachment from Bengal’s evolving political pulse,’ he observed. He depicted TMC’s old guard as shaken by the democratic surge. ‘The tyrants who terrorized Bengal are reeling from historic voter engagement. The people they suppressed are poised to shatter their reign of terror and caprice.’

Drawing on the symbolism of high turnout, Pradhan celebrated it as a vote of confidence in Modi’s leadership. ‘When bully rulers start giving ultimatums to India’s PM, it reeks of insecurity, hostility, and dread—not power or conviction,’ he remarked. Bengal’s electorate, he asserted, is set to reject TMC’s legacy of graft, illegal settlements, brutality, and targeted oppression.

Looking ahead to May 4, Pradhan envisioned a reckoning. ‘Those foolishly attacking an elected leader will face embarrassment as Bengal’s verdict echoes loud: No more dominance by ego, insolence, or intimidation over the people’s sovereign choice.’ This clash highlights deepening divides, with voters potentially signaling change through the ballot.
