In a startling breach of trust, TV personality Vipul Roy has accused a domestic helper of stealing Rs 7.10 lakh in cash and jewelry from his Mumbai flat. The Khar Police have launched a full-scale probe following the actor’s formal complaint.

Living in Khar West’s upscale Kalaniketan Building on the 10th floor, Roy and his family rely on an app-based service for household assistance. Deepali Sanjay Kharwa, who had cleaned their home on four prior occasions, was called in on the morning of April 6, 2026.

Arriving at 9:45 AM, she began her routine chores. When Roy asked her to avoid tracking water into cleaned rooms, she secluded herself in one by locking the door. After a brief 15-minute stint, she exited, claimed completion, and departed.

It was only the following day, upon opening the wardrobe for an errand, that the theft came to light. Missing were foreign currencies—30 US $100 bills, 7000 dirhams, 14,500 baht—plus a silver bracelet and two exquisite gold-diamond rings, valued at Rs 7.10 lakh combined.

Police at Khar station booked Deepali for theft on April 21, 2026. The investigation team is scrutinizing surveillance videos, app transaction logs, and her possible whereabouts to build a watertight case.

A seasoned entertainer, Vipul Roy debuted prominently in ‘India’s Best Cinestars Ki Khoj’. He hosted hits like ‘Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Mega Challenge’ and co-hosted ‘Wheel Ghar Ghar Mein’ with Maniesh Paul. Fans know him from serials such as ‘Tujhko Hai Salaam Zindagi’, ‘Chehra’, ‘FIR’, ‘Jeannie Aur Juju’, ‘Sahib Biwi Aur Boss’, ‘Dr. Madhumati On Duty’, ‘Partners Trouble Ho Gayi Double’, and ‘Naye Shaadi Ke Siyape’.

As the hunt for the absconding maid intensifies, this case highlights vulnerabilities in the gig economy for home services, urging better vetting and tech safeguards.
