Tragedy struck Vidisha when farmer Kalu Ram Jat from Sangul village, under Shamshabad tehsil, committed suicide, allegedly due to prolonged battles over his farmland and official indifference. Stepping in decisively, Leader of Opposition Umang Singhar arrived at the family’s residence to extend support.

Expressing profound grief, Singhar handed over Rs 1 lakh in aid and vowed unwavering assistance during their ordeal. He painted a grim picture: a diligent farmer, fighting for his rights, forced into an irreversible act by systemic failure. ‘This exposes the rot in our administration,’ he asserted to the shocked relatives.

Calling for transparency, Singhar urged a high-level inquiry, prosecution of guilty officers, and measures to safeguard farmers from similar fates. He instructed the SDM to prioritize the investigation without delay. This high-profile intervention has intensified scrutiny on Madhya Pradesh’s handling of agrarian distress.

As the family grapples with loss, Singhar’s actions spotlight deeper issues plaguing the countryside—unresolved disputes, unresponsive bureaucracy, and the human cost of neglect. The opposition’s firm stance could galvanize broader advocacy for farmer welfare reforms.
