Barwani district in Madhya Pradesh witnessed a horrifying patricide on Monday when 32-year-old Chandan Badole gunned down his 58-year-old father Jagan over unpaid money demands. The cold-blooded killing in Pichodi village has ignited widespread condemnation and demands for swift police action.
Details emerging from the investigation paint a picture of escalating family friction. Chandan, sporadically employed as a welder, had received Rs 2 lakh from Jagan previously, obtained by mortgaging land. Insatiable for more, he confronted his father aggressively. Sub-Divisional Police Officer Mahesh Sunaiya confirmed the financial feud as the trigger.
The fatal encounter happened at 11 am as Jagan walked home with wife Gauri Bai. Chandan blocked their path, words turned to violence, and he fired directly into his father’s ear, causing instant death. Gauri Bai’s prompt report to police set off a chase for the absconding son.
Adding intrigue, Chandan had vented online hours earlier via a social media reel, accusing Jagan of hoarding wealth from family properties while denying him funds. Officers are delving into these posts as part of the probe.
Family insiders describe Chandan as hot-tempered, with his marriage already dissolved and a younger sibling staying clear of the conflict. Locals express shock at the savagery, urging better handling of domestic disputes before they turn deadly.
With the postmortem underway and search teams scouring the area, police emphasize a comprehensive review of digital footprints and prior incidents. The incident serves as a grim reminder of how financial stress can fracture even the strongest familial bonds, leaving a village in mourning.
