Gopalganj police in Bihar have solved a two-year-old mystery with the recovery of human skeletal remains from a drain, arresting two men accused of kidnapping and murdering their friend. The case, centered in Kuchaykot’s Sasamusa area, dates back 25 months when Chandan stepped out with pals and never returned.
Relatives reported a possible abduction, but leads dried up until recently. Prompted by family pressure, SP Vinay Tiwari launched a dedicated probe team. By analyzing historical mobile data and scrutinizing suspect movements, officers detained Deepak Kumar and Mannu Kumar for questioning.
Under rigorous grilling, the friends cracked, revealing they had slain Chandan the same day and hidden his body in a nearby nala. In a supervised dig with magistrate oversight, the team pulled out the skeleton and skull fragments, which kin confirmed as Chandan’s.
This grim discovery ends a painful wait for the family, who had lost hope after fruitless searches. Police plan DNA analysis to corroborate the findings. The arrests expose a dark side of friendship turned deadly, raising questions about the motive—be it personal grudge or something sinister.
As the duo faces charges, Gopalganj authorities vow to leave no stone unturned. The incident serves as a stark reminder of how cold cases can heat up with persistence and technology, bringing closure to grieving families.
